Where do peace and quiet come from? Not from a change of scenery or a change of income. They come from a change of heart. When we trust God and let God direct our steps, we have peace and quiet. It’s peace and quiet in our heart, mind and body because we know when we stay in God’s will, God will bless and prosper us.
Isaiah 32:17-18 (KJV) — And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever. And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places;
Trying to figure out what to do and going it alone can be very stressful. Going against what you believe God wants can create all kinds of problems in your life. But when your ways are pleasing to God, you have His protection. Proverbs 16:8 (KJV) — When a man’s ways please the Lord, He maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.
Whenever I try to figure things out on my own (without praying and seeking God’s will), I get awful headaches. I get stressed out. I start worrying about everything. Whenever I start doubting that God will come through, provide and work everything out, I get awful headaches. I get stressed out. I start worrying about everything.
All this causes wrinkles and gray hair, stress weight and health issues. Good appeal to vanity, huh. LOL. Seriously, this does more damage to my spirit and my walk with God than to my looks and health. What do I do to stop this? Pray, pray, pray and read my Bible. Spend time with God. Spend time in His word. Spend time meditating on God. Be quiet and listen for what God has to say.
When I do all the above, I feel the peace of God. I feel His quiet strength. I find the answers I seek in the calmness of my spirit and in God’s word. I pray that daily you seek and follow God’s will for your life.
